IAMIC - International Association of Music Information Centres is a network linking up the information centres which document and promote the contemporary music of their countries; it also offers a global context for becoming acquainted with the specific activities of the various associated centres and for collaborating beyond the national frontiers. In this way IAMIC represents the music of each separate country in an international panorama where information, products, publications are available and provides an outstanding means of access for users.
The objective of IAMIC is to accord access to information on the materials and products supplied by the associated centres so as to (a) solicit and facilitate at international level the realization of joint initiatives and projects and the transmission and distribution of music offered by each single country, (b) support communication, cooperation and the exchange of ideas and thus encourage an active role in the current music scene. IAMIC is a member of the IMC , UNESCO .
